Blessed be you, O Jewish soul,

who imagines a faith of wisdom;

For your image is in the heaven,

the first light, the head of the words of the Lord;

Since your residence in the body is short, 

strive to know the works of the Lord (Ps 118:17);

For it (i.e., the body) will return to oblivion 

whereas you will return to the hand [upon] the throne of the Lord (Exod 17:16)
